What this tool does

Adds a text watermark across your pages. Control the text, opacity, rotation and position, and apply it to every page or only selected ones.

When to use Watermark PDF

  • Draft control. Marking a document "DRAFT" prevents an unfinished version being mistaken for a final one — a genuine risk once a file has been forwarded a few times.
  • Confidentiality. "CONFIDENTIAL" on every page is a standard requirement for documents circulating under an NDA or internally within a business.
  • Copy control. Marking a document "COPY" distinguishes it from an original, which matters for certificates, invoices and certified documents.
  • Attribution. Adding your organisation's name to a document you are circulating.

Why it is useful

  • It signals status and access level without changing the underlying document.
  • It helps prevent mistaken sharing of draft or confidential content.
  • It makes it clear when a file is for reference only rather than final use.

How to use Watermark PDF

  3. 3. Choose all pages or selected pages.
  4. 4. Export the watermarked PDF and download it.

Privacy and safety note

pdf-lib draws the text onto each page at the opacity and angle you specify. The watermark becomes part of the page content. Everything runs in your browser.
